War

My Thoughts 2 Comments »

In the lives of everyone involved with the war machine that time has acknowledged, war has made time remember them. The bringers of death, are the ones that time has remembered with affection, ranging from the American civil war generals such as Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson and Robert E. Lee, to  World War II generals as the likes of  America’s George Patton and Germany’s Erwin Rommel. In every aspect of life there are those that serve a purpose, and usually they are good at the purpose that they fulfill, war is no different. Read More »

White Guilt

My Thoughts 4 Comments »

There has been much talk of White Guilt, since this is the first time that an African American stands a good chance of winning the White House. A notable author,  Shelby Steele, who has written for the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, received the Bradley Prize for his contributions to the study of race in America, and was awarded the National Humanities Medal among other major recognized contributions to the subject of race divisions, has pointed out:

“The great ingenuity of interventions like affirmative action has not been that they give Americans a way to identify with the struggle of blacks, but that they give them a way to identify with racial virtuousness quite apart from blacks.”  Steele, Shelby (2006-05-02). White Guilt: How Blacks and Whites Together Destroyed the Promise of the Civil Rights Era. HarperCollins.

In other words, items such as affirmative action were created not to be items to aid African Americans, but a way of allowing the continual cycle of African Americans to be viewed as victims. Some of this rings true to me, however there is more then just the simple victim viewpoint that African Americans are portrayed to be. Read More »

The Myth of Global Warming

My Thoughts No Comments »

Global warming, what is it really?

Global warming is an average increase in the temperature of the atmosphere near the Earth’s surface and in the troposphere, which can contribute to changes in global climate patterns. Global warming can occur from a variety of causes, both natural and human induced. In common usage, “global warming” often refers to the warming that can occur as a result of increased emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities.”   (visit site)

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes “most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-twentieth century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic (man-made) greenhouse gas concentrations”, Climate Change 2007: The Physical Science Basis. Contribution of Working Group I to the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (2007-02-05).

Also keep in mind the terminology of climate change. The use of “virtual certainty” (or virtually certain) conveys a greater than 99% chance that a result is true. Other terms used to communicate confidence include “extremely likely” (greater than 95% chance the result is true), “very likely” (greater than 90% chance the result is true), “likely” (greater than 66% chance the result is true), “more likely than not” (greater than 50% chance the result is true), “unlikely” (less than 33% chance the result is true), “very unlikely” (less than 10% chance the result is true), and “extremely unlikely” (less than 5% chance the result is true). These judgmental estimates originate from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC, 2007). So please keep in mind that when you hear that global warming is “very likely” it really means that it is greater than Read More »

Opinions

My Thoughts No Comments »

The purpose of this post is to merely say that MotionJuice is just my way of sharing the thoughts that run through my head from time to time. If I have written a blog on a specific topic, know that any link you click will take you to a creditable source. Whether you agree, or disagree, you are right. I am a firm believer in the freedom of opinion as well as the freedom of speech. An opinion is based off of how you, the individual, feel about things, from past experience or current situations and you have the right to say how you feel. Comments to any of my blogs are acceptable and necessary. Tell me if you agree or disagree and I will listen. However, I also feel that an opinion should be rational and factual, not wild speculation based on hearsay, so have your sources ready to be inspected. It just so happens that I back my opinions with facts, that I have personally cross referenced and rechecked, and these facts are undeniable, to me. Some fact sources contain an argument within themselves, but it is up to the individual to take a look at the information and decide for themselves. For some, these blogs will cause the process of thought and also more questions. Some may choose to search for answers themselves and with others, encourage change, yet there are some that will simply close their eyes and ears to what is obviously around them for whatever reasons they deem. I am asking no one to believe me blindly, I only ask that you look for yourself and then decide. The questions that can be asked are limitless, but so are the Read More »
